“A fantastic collection of poetry covering many topics and forms.”
What initially seems to be a collection of poems
that are difficult to read and highly atypical is a fantastic collection of poetry. Whilst there are a good number
of pieces in the collection that seem to try too hard, the majority of the pieces are well thought out windows
into a man’s experience.
Quite heavily influenced by war and politics the
poems paint a picture that is different from other
collections of it’s type. ‘His Tory’ in particular is worth
mentioning, for it’s playful and rhythmic quality that combines with
a noteworthy piece of political history for a great
effect.
Whilst fans of the more traditional forms poetry may
be put off, reading through the entire collection is a rewarding experience. However, this does not negate
the one or two pretentious moments that seem to have
traded content for an ‘avant guarde’ style.
