I'll make a cup of tea
while you tell me all your woes
The "Why you've never" been,
And the "Why you didn't" Goes
I'll make a cup of tea
While you pour your troubles out
..Is it just one lump, or two these days ?
..or do you sometimes go without ?
Although I haven't seen you for years,
I'll brew us both the cup that cheers
A friend in need....in need of a drink
...As I rinse the tea-cups in the sink.
You tell me all your problems
...I have problems too, myself
I just keep them by the Bread-bin,
near the tea-bags...on the shelf.
And then you rise, to make your leave
And you drain the last from your cup
I show you out, and with a sigh
... I Do the washing up.
