Maurice
was born in 1956, in North London. After an indifferent time at
school, he left with a proud (?) total of four ‘O’ levels. After a
long career drifting in and out of IT, he is now an ex-London Bus
driver. He began writing at school, encouraged by a forward looking
teacher. When that teacher moved on, and was replaced by a man of
indifferent teaching skills, Maurice stopped writing creatively.
Unless you count years of software test result reports.
After a nervous breakdown in May of 2008, he developed
agoraphobia and began writing again as an outlet for depression.
Dyslexic, he relies heavily on spell-checkers, and some close
friends for proof-reading. His writing is inspired by some unknown
muse, who delights in waking him in the middle of the night. He is
kept going by regular worship at the altar of the goddess Caffeina.
(Hot, strong, milk and two sugars, please.)
Maurice writes in many styles, on many subjects. But has always
preferred to write what he calls ‘sketches’. In other words, he
writes in detail about very short periods of time. Snap-shots, if
you will, of larger events. He often advises his readers to read his
work slowly, so that their own imaginations can supply the otherwise
missing context for the words. His prolific output remains mostly
unmarred by such considerations as taste, or political correctness.
Maurice has contributed the following piece to the site:

He has a message to any reviewer:
“Please tell me the pictures and feelings my work creates for you. This is more valuable to me than just commentary on technique.”
