I was born in 1948 just after the war years in the
Lancashire town of Blackburn.
As a very young girl I dabbled a bit
in poetry, in later school years I gained a few prizes for them.
I married in 1968 and having 2 daughters born in the 70’s, concentrated on bringing them up as a mother, only working part time during this period. But for the last 4 years I have taken my poetry up again and I’m thoroughly enjoying it immensely.
I have had quite a lot of poems published in the Poets Corner section for the Lancashire Telegraph. My poems are mainly nostalgic about my childhood growing up in a cotton town.
What inspires me to write poetry is creating a story and getting my feelings down in words on a blank piece of paper, and seeing the end result in front of me, wonderful!
Also over the last few years I have compiled my poems into books as Christmas presents for family and friends. My current project is to compile some of my poems into a book with illustrations, and attempt to publish them.
I work dinner times at school, and enjoy being with the children, but I am retiring very soon. I am an outgoing person and love being with people. I have quite a few close friends around me, they are very important to me because they have been friends for many years.
